For 50 years, EFY has been a meaningful experience for youth and families. Since 1976, the program has helped tens of thousands of young people grow spiritually, socially, and personally through uplifting, well-structured camp experiences.
As we look to the future, we’re excited to share the next chapter of that legacy.
Beginning this year, EFY will be known as BYU Expeditions.
What’s Changing—and What’s Staying the Same
BYU Expeditions represents an evolution of EFY, not a departure from it. The heart of the program remains unchanged: a safe, faith-centered environment where youth can build friendships, grow in confidence, and strengthen their values.
At the same time, this new direction allows us to more closely align with Brigham Young University’s mission and expand what the program can offer—now and in the years ahead.
Participants can expect:
- The same trusted structure and emphasis on safety
- Experienced staff and meaningful programming
- A continued focus on youth development and spiritual growth
Why BYU Expeditions?
The name BYU Expeditions reflects both where we’re going and how we’re getting there.
An “expedition” is purposeful, guided, and transformative. It captures the spirit of exploration, growth, and shared experience that has always defined EFY—while also signaling expanded opportunities made possible through deeper alignment with BYU.
This evolution allows us to:
- Enhance program experiences
- Introduce new session types and offerings
- Continue raising the standard for youth camps
